University & College Scholarship
For some time now, we have been supporting university students in addition to our main field of activity - supporting secondary school students. Thus, 20 students have already completed their studies with our support or are still in the process of doing so.
The support for future students is aimed at people who have completed our secondary school program and qualified for university/college studies with their KCSE result. A further requirement is the application for the HELB loan. For university students, selection is not based on their choice of courses. We do not exclude any courses in general, and each application is reviewed individually.
The support includes the following benefits, depending on the family's neediness:
- university/college fees
- Accommodation
- pocket money
- meals
- Laptop on loan for the duration of studies (depending on the course)
- Bicycle for transport
- Personal support & advice from our social workers
The following application documents need to be submitted:
- Admission letter
- Attached proof that you have applied for a HELB loan (Higher Education Loans Board) and that this has either been rejected or only partially granted.
- Letter of motivation in which you outline
- What you want to study
- Why you want to study that specific field
- Your personal circumstances
- Extracurricular activities if you have any
- What it would mean to you to get accepted into our scholarship program
- Indicate your age/birthday
No entitlement to support from BHF exists.
